Friedrich Donates Latest in HVAC Technology to San Antonio School

Take a school on a limited budget, add the latest HVAC technology and it equals the perfect teachable moment for greater efficiency, convenience and comfort.

That’s the result of a recent donation from Friedrich, a leading U.S.-based air conditioning manufacturer, to Mount Sacred Heart, a pre-K-8 grade school in San Antonio, Texas. Friedrich is installing 10 new state-of-the-art, top-rated Kühl room A/C units at the school to replace a hodgepodge of older, inefficient units made from a variety of other manufacturers that are outmoded and in various stages of disrepair.

Mount Sacred Heart School in San Antonio, TexasIn part, the donation is a major test for Friedrich’s latest smart technology WiFi platform called FriedrichConnect that the company plans to introduce as part of its full Kühl line later this year. With FriedrichConnect, all the new Friedrich Kühl units being installed at Mount Sacred can be remotely controlled and managed as a group, eliminating the need for a separate energy management system. With an intuitive, easy to use interface and quick installation, the latest Kühl units make HVAC maintenance and operation a breeze.

“Remote management will contribute to significant energy savings,” said Brittany Calderon, Friedrich consumer products manager. “These units also offer customizable room-by-room comfort and are extremely convenient for the school to operate. Remote management means not worrying about whether someone forgot to turn off the A/C and the potential wasted energy that may result.”

Quiet, precise and reliable, Kühl represents the next generation of room air conditioners and not only for its smarts. Lauded for its sleek style that takes the concept of room air conditioners to a whole new level, Kühl is also a powerhouse with a high energy efficiency IQ. The Kühl line has cooling-only models and models with heat (heat pump or electric heat) in a full range of capacities so they can operate as year-round central-like systems. The largest Kühl unit can produce up to 36,000 BTUs and ENERGY STAR® qualified models are available in a variety of different sizes. Friedrich is the only U.S. manufacturer to offer an entire line of room air conditioners with smart grid technology, making it possible for utilities to connect, monitor and control the units on the backend during times of strain on the power grid.

“When it comes to creating the optimal learning environment, comfort is essential,” said Veronica Beck, principal of Mount Sacred Heart School. “We are so grateful to Friedrich for this donation. It’s already making a major difference in helping us control energy costs while maintaining a consistent, comfortable environment for our students and staff.”

Friedrich Kühl units are available through authorized dealers and retailers throughout the nation. Visit www.friedrich.com for more information.
