Between the Lines: Gadgets and Corona

This article is brought to you via an iPhone. A few years ago, I invested in a portable Bluetooth keyboard. I haven’t used it until now. The reason is simple. We experienced a severe storm yesterday which knocked out power to more than 1300 homes. So, no Wi-Fi. Got out my cellular wireless modem. No service. Top that off with a Coronavirus quarantine and you can lose it or get creative.

Fortunately, I am able to send and receive e-mail on this device. I had no intention of typing on it, so the keyboard saved the day. National Grid and my cell phone provider will be adjusting my rates. That fight is for another day.

If I must live off the grid, I want to do it right. I wasn’t prepared for this. They say that the power will be restored tomorrow. Two and a half days!

Anyway, the point of this article is that we are spoiled with technology. With Covid -19 and storms, dependency could easily shift back to alcohol. We must reinvent ourselves in order to survive.

I went through four years of medical issues that I am recovering from in good fashion – thanks to superb doctors and especially nurses who deserve way more praise (and money) than they get.

So thank those who help and defend us and be thankful for what you have.

Got to go, the generator needs more gas….
