Bosch Thermotechnology Corp. Adds New Inverted Ducted Package (IDP) 3-Ton Model to Recently Launched IDP System

May 18, 2020

Bosch Thermotechnology announced today the addition of its Inverter Ducted Package (IDP) 3 Ton, which offers the peak efficiency and compressor technology of its IDP 5 Ton air-source heat pump system in a smaller, even more versatile package.

The IDP 3 Ton comprises all of the benefits of the Inverter Split systems in a single cabinet, including best-in-class efficiency and precise modulation to minimize energy usage while simultaneously maximizing comfort in residential and light commercial spaces. While the 5 Ton model provides up to two-stage indoor fan control, the IDP 3 Ton features up to four-stage indoor fan control and is UL certified for high static.

Bosch’s Inverter Ducted Split air-source heat pump system serves as the foundation for both models’ redesigned one-cabinet package – one that is ideal for easy residential and light commercial installations. The IDP 3 Ton and IDP 5 Ton offer the following efficiencies, respectfully: Seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER) ratings of 18.5 and of 19; energy efficiency ratios (EER) of 12 and 12.5; and a heating seasonal performance factor (HSPF) of 9 and 10. The IDP’s convenient two-way design simplifies installation by allowing for both horizontal and down flow installations. The systems are also compatible with most standard 24 VAC heat pump thermostats.

“The new IDP 3 Ton opens up our already versatile Inverter Ducted Packaged system installation options to fit even more applications,” Bosch Thermotechnology product manager Katie Woodling said. “We’re excited to expand this popular air-conditioning product lineup and continue delivering best-in-market efficiency to more customers.”

The IDP’s two-stage constant torque electronically commutated motor (ECM) x13 blower provides enhanced dehumidification and quiet operation, and the fully modulating inverter drive precisely matches the heating or cooling load for maximum efficiency. The IDP platform’s inverter compressor offers speeds ranging from 36 to 118 percent, with modulation in 1 percent increments.

The IDP meets the requirements for ENERGY STAR® and will comply with the Department of Energy consumer central air conditioner and heat pump direct final rule that will become effective Jan. 1, 2023.
