Do You Sense Change in the Air?

By Danielle Myers, Operations & Compliance Manager, Thermostat Recycling Corp. I recently attended the Midwest Energy Solutions Conference — virtually, of course. Its four days were replete with various programs directed toward the energy industry, focusing on raising awareness and reinforcing the importance of energy efficiency in the Midwest. Danielle Myers Topics ranged from “No Wires, No Problem. Non-wires Solutions for Optimizing the Grid” and “How Can Energy Efficiency Support Grid Resiliency” to Decarbonization and… Read More

Sustainability and the “New Normal”

By Tom Murray Last month we talked about the new normal, a post-pandemic time that will be characterized by behavioral change and societal shifts, some annoying, others defining, as we come back on line and learn to live with COVID-19 and its unwelcomed but expected cousins.  To me, it’s like that annoying relative whom you have to invite to Christmas dinner.  He commandeers the conversation telling anyone who will listen how they should change their… Read More

Celebrating Our Earth, Now More Than Ever

By Tom Murray I am sure he read the newspapers and listened to the news that Sunday in June 1969. The Cuyahoga River in Cleveland had caught fire due to an oil slick on the river caused by decades of industrial waste discharged into it by nearby manufacturing plants.  Would this be the event that would ignite an environmental course of action by his colleagues in Congress? The alarming story told by Rachel Carson in 1962… Read More
