Weather Engineers, Inc., a residential and commercial HVACR installation and service company located in Jacksonville, FL, celebrated their 60^th anniversary earlier this year with a huge party attended by over 650 friends, employees, customers, vendors, and their families.

The event was held at the company’s 30,000 square feet office and warehouse building on Edison Avenue and featured a bounce house, slide and games for the youngsters and live music by the Bold City Classics band for all to enjoy. Hill’s BBQ & Catering out of Gainesville, FL provided lunch, a Mister Softee ice cream truck served dessert and refreshments were provided, including beer from the Tap on Wheels van.

Weather Engineers, Inc. President Daniel “Dan” and wife Patty Griffin hosted the guests, with plenty of help from their employees and families. “What an awesome day this has been,” Dan stated as the party wound down. “We’ve made a lot of friends over the years through our business and we’re very happy so many joined us in celebrating this milestone. We can celebrate this occasion because of the commitment our employees have made to training, working hard, and staying focused on their responsibilities, outperforming our competition and consistently exceeding the expectations of our customers. Thank you to everyone for being here and the many people who contributed their time and energy to putting this together!”

The company was founded in 1963 by James “Griff” Griffin Sr. and partner Sonny Doerr who shared the same desire to strike out on their own after working for a commercial mechanical company. With three employees, a lot of hard work and dedication, the company turned a profit in their first year.

Griff and Sonny instilled a culture of building caring, trusting, lifelong relationships with their customers and the community and setting a course for growth in the following years.

Today, the prominence of Weather Engineers rests with Griff’s family: son and President Dan Griffin (45 years), Vice President Danny Towers (23 years), Service Director Dave Milligan (25 years), granddaughter and Finance Manager Kayla Yeager (12 years) and grandson Jamie Griffin (14 years), as well as the other long term very dedicated team members. “We have been working together for years to bring our customers top-tier customer service and indoor comfort when they need it the most,” Dan said.

Weather Engineers, Inc. has added to their growing customer base over the years by organically merging several like-minded HVAC service companies into the Weather Engineers business model. The last merger was with A Plus Air Conditioning & Refrigeration of Gainesville, FL in 2021. They currently have more than 65 service vehicles and 110 team members serving and supporting their customers.

“Our employees have been the backbone of this business and we’re fortunate to have a nucleus of people that can share our methods and culture, guiding others on the path to success,” Dan stated. “Vice President Danny Towers has been with us 23 years, Service/Envirovac Manager David Milligan has 25 years, Jamie has 14 years and Kayla has 12 years with us. We also have many field employees that have more than 20 years of service with the company.”

Communication plays a key role in the company’s everyday operations and success, according to Dan. “We have weekly management meetings with key decision makers and monthly department meetings to cover safety topics and address any concerns before they become major issues. We participate in training opportunities provided by distributors and manufacturers and their reps to stay ahead of changes in equipment, tools, and best practices. Finally, clear communications with preferred suppliers that share our values helps build trusting, caring and loyal relationships.”

Weather Engineers, Inc. gives back to the HVAC industry by being an active, engaged member of the statewide Florida Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Contractors Association (FRACCA) and the local North Florida Air Conditioning Contractors Association (NFACCA) chapter in Jacksonville and the Gainesville Air Conditioning Contractors Association (GACCA). Griff Griffin was a founding member of NFACCA in 1969. Many of their service and installation employees are graduates of the apprenticeship programs supported by the associations in Jacksonville and Gainesville.

The company participates in the Air Angels Foundation, a non-profit which arranges for the repair or replacement of air conditioning systems for northeast Florida homeowners with limited financial resources.
