The YORK® brand of Johnson Controls unveiled a new complete home comfort system with state-of-the-art zoning technology. The Hx™3 Communicating Zoning System allows homeowners to precisely control individual room temperatures in up to eight zones for maximum comfort and system control.

The Communicating Zoning System is compatible with YORK Affinity™ premium variable capacity or two-stage indoor and outdoor communicating equipment. The high-efficiency systems maximize energy savings while offering superior performance. In fact, the ENERGY STAR® Most Efficient qualified YXV air conditioners and YZV heat pumps provide up to 21 SEER and can reduce energy costs by as much as 50 percent compared to 13 or 14 SEER units.

The entire system can be controlled directly on a mobile device with the updated Hx app or directly on the Wi-Fi-enabled Hx3 smart thermostat, featuring multiple customizable schedules, including geofencing, away mode and vacation mode, which can be set for individual zones or the entire home. Multiple secondary zone controls and sensors can be used for individual zone control to create a truly customized solution that fits homeowners’ specific needs and budget.

Unlike zoning equipment that require bypass and barometric dampers, the Hx3 Communicating Zoning System uses existing ductwork and modulating dampers to control airflow with a proprietary design, saving homeowners on material and installation cost and saving contractors on time.

The entire system can be configured directly through the zone module, Hx3 main controller or on the Hx Pro app via a smart phone or tablet – providing flexibility and ease for installation, operation and maintenance. The Hx Pro app also allows contractors to remotely monitor or diagnose the equipment with homeowner’s permission. Installation is further streamlined with a unique airflow calculation process created with contractors in mind. The Communicating Zoning System can be customized based on zone size and demand by selecting individual air flows per zone without the need for any external sensors or probes.
