American Standard® Heating and Air Conditioning Partners with Home Builders Institute to Support Career Development for Students within the HVAC Industry
American Standard® Heating & Air Conditioning, a leading provider of long-lasting, quality HVAC equipment for more than a century, today announced that it will be the newest sponsor of the Home Builders Institute (HBI), the nation’s leading educational resource for career technical education in the building industry. According to PBS, the shortage of skilled tradespeople in the U.S. is a persistent problem. American Standard is partnering with HBI schools to help address the nationwide demand for skilled contractors by providing HBI students with training on American Standard heating and cooling equipment, networking connections, transitional resources and more, to prepare them for promising careers in the HVAC industry.
“At American Standard, we are committed to being the best at everything we do. We know we’re only as good as the people with whom we work, which is why we do everything we can to support our dealers. Through this partnership with HBI schools we are helping to build up the trades and support the pipeline of new HVAC technicians” said Kathryn Wildrick, American Standard Brand Manager. “We believe that having the proper tools and support makes a difference for those pursuing a technical specialty. Through this relationship with HBI, we seek to support their mission to help individuals develop the skills needed to be successful in their careers.”
Serving more than 10,000 students a year, HBI offers industry-based, pre-apprenticeship programs to individuals across all walks of life, including students in mainstream and technical secondary schools, at-risk youth, former military members and veterans, and those looking to reenter the workforce. With a certification rate of 95 percent and a placement rate of nearly 90 percent, HBI’s HVAC program operates in five cities across the nation including: Brunswick, Georgia; Tucson, Arizona; McKinney, Texas; Jacksonville, Florida; and Chicopee, Massachusetts.
“There is nothing more important in the training of skilled workers for the construction industry than for trainees to get a hands-on education provided by experts with real-world experience,” said HBI President and CEO Ed Brady. “That’s exactly what our new partnership with American Standard will now mean for HBI students. They will join the HVAC workforce confident in their skills and ready to build their careers.”
