Why? Students will earn credit for what they have learned in school, saving them time in completing apprenticeship training.

Students attending accredited HVACR programs can qualify for advanced placement in the United Association apprenticeship programs contingent on meeting the following requirements; minimum of a ‘C” cumulative GPA, graduate from the school program, and successfully complete a battery of five specific HVAC Excellence exams. Credit is awarded for the training they received in school which shortens their apprenticeship program and increases their starting pay.

Through this agreement, students can be placed with prominent employers that are members of the Mechanical Service Contractors of America https://www.mcaa.org/msca. Some member companies include Johnson Controls, Carrier Commercial, SIEMENS, and EMCOR. This can improve student starting salaries, employee benefits, help recruiting efforts, and enhance public perception about the credibility of the program.

Some of the benefits that these employers offer include:

  • Benefits such as health insurance, retirement plan, computer, etc.
  • Continuing education opportunities, i.e. college credits, certifications, etc.
  • Potential to advance and earn up to six figures per year
  • Unlimited opportunity for growth and advancement
