In Memoriam: Julius Farinhas, Sr. February 28, 1933 – January 3, 2019
Julius Michael Farinhas known by family and friends as Sonny and Jules, age 85 of Hallandale Beach, Florida passed away on January 3rd , after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
The funeral service was held at Nativity Catholic Church in Hollywood, Florida on January 5th with Jules being laid to rest at Fred Hunter’s Hollywood Memorial Gardens in the Legacy Memorial Chapel.
Jules was born in Newark, New Jersey on February 28, 1933. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army as an M.P. Upon his return home, he married his childhood sweetheart Julia Ann (Judi) Sherba. Judi and Jules were married on November 19, 1955. They were married 63 years.
After moving to Florida, Jules worked in the air conditioning industry and became highly respected by his peers as owner of Sherba Brothers, Inc. and Port Distributors. After retirement, Jules found his paradise in the Bahamas, fishing and boating with his wife Judi. He was an active member of Neptune Flamingo Yacht Club, the Air Conditioning Contactors Association and the Elk’s Club in New Jersey.
Jules was preceded in death by his mother Catherine and father Julius. He will be lovingly remembered by his soulmate Judi, son Skip (Susan) and daughter Lisa (Mark). Jules will also be fondly remembered by his seven grandchildren, Gina (Chris), Jessica (Adam), Amanda, Collette (Ryan), Stephen, Mitchell, Stephanie and great grandchildren Gabriel and Cameron.
