The Department of Forensic Science (DFS) is seeking a qualified applicant to function as the HVAC-R/Controls Technician in the Central Forensic Laboratory building, located in Richmond, VA. This position will perform repairs, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and monitor building services, specializing in but not limited to HVAC and control systems. This position is also responsible for addressing general building maintenance (handyman, plumbing, electrical) issues. On a daily basis, incumbent will undertake maintenance jobs related to the building operations, periodic & preventative maintenances, and the breakdown repairs of all building equipment and related services.

With an expansive campus, we are currently seeking experienced full-time HVAC Mechanic III to perform installations and preventative and corrective maintenance and repairs on a wide variety of HVAC equipment such as; oil burners – both residential and commercial, low pressure commercial steam boilers <150 bhp, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, packaged roof top units greater than 10 tons and other mechanical plant equipment and systems. You must also be able to safely and efficiently use hand and power tools, ladders, automated man lifts, and other equipment in the performance of your duties. You must be able to lift 50 pounds, spend extended periods on your feet, and work in loud, hot, and cold environments. You will work 40 hour per week on shifts from 7:00a to 4:00p. You must be available to work occasional weekends, and respond to off–hour emergencies as and when needed. You must possess a current and valid Massachusetts Refrigeration Technician’s License and driver’s license.
