Regal Debuts Refrigeration Fan Motor Monitoring Technology at Chillventa

October 11, 2018

Regal Beloit Corporation, a leading manufacturer of electric motors, electrical motion controls, power generation and power transmission components, announced it will debut its Elco® Sentinel monitoring system via a live simulated cabinet alongside its core HVAC products at the Chillventa international exhibition for refrigeration, AC & ventilation, and heat pumps from October 16 through October 18 in Nuremberg, Germany.

Regal hybrid fanThe Elco Sentinel monitoring system supplies information about a motor’s actual RPM, delivered torque and internal temperature to help overcome the major challenge facing supermarkets to assure predictive maintenance in the refrigerated display case. The system offers night mode to identify any unusual activity surrounding the cabinet and react consequently to the detected event. The system also offers backup mode to ensure performance in the event a fan gets blocked, increasing the speed of the remaining fans to compensate for the lack of airflow to keep the product fresher for longer.

“The end users are increasingly demanding the incorporation of IoT technology to control and monitor their equipment for increased system efficiency and food safety,” said Enrico Crippa, Technology Director at Regal. “Regal is committed to IoT solutions that answer that demand, in this case allowing engineers to control the fan motor’s speed, direction and other monitored parameters for increased operational efficiencies. We are offering to our customers the benefit of a simplified and more effective performance personalization of their units.”

The Elco Sentinel monitoring system will be featured during a presentation at Chillventa on October 17 from 4:20 p.m. to 4:40 p.m. in Hall 9. The presentation will be led by Gianluca Albrici, Elco sales director.

During Chillventa, Regal will also feature the Nicotra Gebhardt® RLM, DDMP and RQM lines. Regal added the Nicotra Gebhardt line of energy-efficient systems for ventilation and air quality when it acquired the company earlier this year. The RQM MultiEvo system is up to 15 percent more efficient than conventional or electronically commutated fans. Its unique, compact design combines the easy handling of free-running centrifugal fans with the effectiveness of traditional housing fans. Most recently, the RQM MultiEvo system was recognized by H&V News as the recipient of the Commercial HVAC Product of the Year for Cooling & Ventilation Units.
