College Bound Students Who Are NJ Residents Could Be This Year’s Recipient of a $10,000 Scholarship Issued by Skylands Energy Service
Skylands Energy Scholarship is once again available to college bound students who are New Jersey residents. This is Skylands Energy’s 2nd year of offering this scholarship and it is a $2,500 scholarship for the 2019-2020 school year, renewable for up to four years, for a total of up to $10,000, provided the scholarship recipient maintains a 3.0 GPA or better.
The annual Skylands Energy Scholarship is once again available to interested students who are New Jersey residents. Students that meet eligibility requirements can apply to be awarded a $2,500 scholarship for the 2019-2020 school year, renewable for up to four years, for a total of up to $10,000, provided the recipient maintains a 3.0 GPA or better.

Their goal in offering the Skylands Energy Scholarship is to support budding professionals that subscribe to the same values and are committed to observing excellence and integrity in regards to their neighbors, communities, and the environment.
Eligible applicants will be enrolled in an accredited 4-year undergraduate program at a U.S. college or university or a 2-year technical trade school. The scholarship is designed for students interested in professional pursuits in fields like construction management, electrical engineering, environmental science, HVAC, or mechanical engineering. All applicants must be New Jersey residents.
Applicants for the 2019 scholarship must submit a 1,000-word essay, as well as a 2-minute video on the following topic: “What are the Benefits of Biofuel and its Impact on the Economy and the Environment.” In order to be considered, the essay must be properly formatted and the video content must contain well-researched information that is readily available through credible sources. The 2018 Skylands Energy Scholarship recipient, Bret Schuler, was awarded $2,500 per year toward the cost of attending a 4-year program in Environmental Engineering at Drew University in Madison, NJ, for a total of up to $10,000. His 2-minute video on the topic “The Impact of Energy Efficient Heating and Air Conditioning Systems on the Environment” was chosen as the winner, and Schuler was the first to receive this scholarship from Skylands Energy Service.
Ed Miller, the President of Skylands Energy Service, said, “I know that our scholarship committee had a challenging task put in front of them to choose a winner. Ultimately, Schuler stood out to everyone on the committee. We wish him well in his college career at Drew University.”
Said Schuler, in response to being informed of his win, “I am very appreciative and thankful that Skylands Energy awarded me their scholarship and the opportunity to better my experience at Drew University. I want to personally thank Ed Miller for giving students like me opportunities to better their educational experience.” Schuler went on to say that he plans to use his scholarship funds for a new Mac Book and other school supplies.
