HSM’S PTI Launches Next Gen Engineered Foam Pipe Insulation InnoTough
PTI, a division of HSM and major supplier of pipe insulation for the plumbing and HVAC markets, is launching the second generation of its proprietary extruded engineered foam insulation product line. Called InnoToughTM, the new patent pending product integrates the best characteristics of polyethylene (PE) and rubber insulation but is also tear resistant and suitable for cold-weather installations.
Geared toward residential and light commercial HVAC and plumbing use, InnoTough is recyclable and can be used indoors and outdoors because it’s more durable and more flexible than other types of pipe insulation. It is also particularly good for HVAC use because of its superior heat resistance properties that meet the ASTM C411 temperature test required for HVAC installations. Previously, only rubber insulation could meet the requirements of C411.
“Building on these groundbreaking product attributes, we are now launching a second generation that includes a pre-slit version with self-sealing properties,” said Michael Simmons, president of HSM diversified products and services division. “The self-sealing properties make the product easier to install, reducing installation time.
“InnoTough insulation has become a disruptive force in the marketplace since we launched it,” he continued. “Poised to take us to the next level, it’s superior to rubber and PE, but at a price point that’s very competitive with both.”
In addition to B2B sales, PTI is also targeting the B2C market for its pipe insulation. Simmons said the product is ideal for home improvement centers and other retail channels that target small contractors and do-it-yourself consumers.
“The features and benefits of InnoTough resonate with contractors and others who have struggled with the durability of rubber and PE insulation for years,” he said.
In addition to pipe insulation, PTI is a producer of OEM polyethylene foam packaging material, technical engineered polyolefin profile extrusions and pool toys.
