Contractors, Giving Back
The Joseph Groh Foundation Announces Newest Foundation Recipient
The Joseph Groh Foundation is pleased to announce its latest grant recipient Frances Glueck. Frances entered the world with a genetic condition, a deletion and addition on chromosome 5. This caused cognitive, developmental and physical delays along with some significant medical complications.
Frances is the fourth of five children, and her parents believe she has taught them what love truly is.
The grant received by The Joseph Groh Foundation allowed this family to convert their garage into a handicapped accessible bedroom/bathroom. The grant provided for pouring the cement floor and providing HVAC for the space and a roll in shower. The Joseph Groh Foundation founder Joe Groh contacted Mark Kuntz, CEO of Mitsubishi Electric Trane. Joe said, “Mark was immediately onboard, donating a 0.75 ton heat pump, 24 seer, variable speed compressor with inverter technology and a high wall fan coil.” Leon’s Electric & Plumbing installed the mini split.
Frances’s dad, Andrew, has been in the construction trades his entire life. After graduating from Texas A&M with a Bachelor of Science in construction science, Andrew went to work as a carpenter for a custom builder. Following that, he worked as a structural superintendent for a commercial builder where he coordinated field activities for a 22-story medical office building. He moved back to residential construction where he worked for Pulte Homes, where he managed construction activities for a 50-home development in Austin, TX. For the past 17 years he has worked as a project manager for a construction company in Columbus, Texas. There he has managed several projects including the construction of a junior high and high school, an education support center, a community center, KW International and more.
About The Joseph Groh Foundation
Established in 2009, the Joseph S Groh Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals within the contracting and construction trades who face truly, life-altering disabilities. The foundation has provided financial assistance totaling $1.2 million to 121 families in the contracting and construction trades industry in 34 states ranging from wheelchair accessible vans and home/bath remodels to assistive technology, rehab equipment, home repairs and more. The foundation also offers information to individuals with disabilities through its website.
Our foundation’s inception is rooted in a profound event on Father’s Day of 2008. Joe Groh, an HVAC industry veteran, experienced a life-altering accident during a bike ride, resulting in quadriplegia. Despite the challenges, Joe’s resilience inspired the creation of this mask foundation. His story and our mission can be explored further on our website at www.josephgrohfoundation.org.
