Ferguson HVAC Celebrates 40th Year of Supporting Hope Children’s Home
2020 marks the 40th year Ferguson HVAC has supported The Hope Children’s Home! In years past, Ferguson HVAC has held a Christmas party for customers, the Hope Children’s Home representatives and children and associates. The event included numerous raffle prizes that customers purchased tickets for a chance to win. In 2019, Ferguson raised $11,338. All proceeds were donated to the Hope Children’s Home.
“This year the charity holiday event looks a little different as we weren’t able to gather, enjoy good food and listen to the children sing carols,” says Jeremy Barnes, General Manager for Florida. “But one thing that hasn’t changed is our commitment to donate to this wonderful charity. Our goal this year was to raise at least $5,000 for The Hope Children’s Home to qualify for an additional donation from Recover Tampa Bay Initiative of $10,000. Thanks to the generosity of our contractor partners and vendors, we raised $6,699 and provided a check to the Home totaling $16,699!”
Ferguson wanted to do more than just give a monetary donation. They also decided to collect donated items from the children’s wish lists. In an effort to honor Ferguson’s 40th year of working with Hope Children’s Home, Ferguson HVAC set out to collect 40 wish list items per branch and with 10 locations in the state, that’s a whopping 400+ gifts to donate to the children of the Home. The branches crushed the goal and a total of 552 gifts were delivered to the children on December 18, 2020!
Jeremy Barnes said, “Over the years, this charity has come to hold a place in our customer’s hearts, as much as it has our own, and we knew they would want to participate in any way that they could.” Each Ferguson HVAC location set up a holiday display to help promote the fundraiser. Customers could choose an item from the wish list to donate. Each item they donated earned them a ticket to win door prizes. Donations were collected through December 11, 2020.
Founded in 1968, Hope Children’s Home has rescued nearly 5,000 children between the ages of infant to 18 years of age. The type of children they care for are not juvenile delinquents, but rather children that, through no fault of their own, find themselves in a situation of needed rescue. Some children simply come out of a situation where a parent just needs a little help.
For over 50 years, Hope Children’s Home has lovingly cared for children in need and tried to make a difference in their very impressionable lives. The rewards of their labor are the thousands of children across the country who are now productive adults raising their own children.
