RHP Mechanical Systems Renews Designation with the Nevada Safety Consultation and Training Section
The Safety Consultation and Training Section (SCATS) of the State of Nevada’s Division of Industrial Relations recognizes RHP Mechanical Systems, a plumbing, heating and air conditioning services company, for renewing its Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) designation. The company received its first SHARP designation in 2014, and cites the SHARP program as playing a pivotal role in helping the company transform into a model of safety and health.
“Participating in the SHARP program transformed how we approach safety,” said Nick Myers, RHP Shop Foreman and Safety Committee Member. “It’s not just about compliance; it’s about creating a culture where every employee feels responsible and valued. The result is safer fabrication shops, safer jobsites, happier employees and a stronger reputation in the industry.”
RHP Mechanical Systems is part of an elite group of businesses that have achieved SHARP status by maintaining exemplary health and safety standards. Participation in the no-cost program provides incentives and support to employers to develop, implement and continuously improve programs at their worksite(s). By taking these proactive measures, businesses can reduce accident costs and ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) regulations.
“RHP Mechanical Systems is a true industry leader within the HVAC and mechanical industry, having served Northern Nevada for more than 75 years,” said Todd Schultz, Chief Administrative Officer for SCATS. “We look forward to continuing our long-term partnership with RHP, and applaud them for putting employees’ safety first.”
SCATS consultants provide employers with confidential hazard identification, program development, implementation assistance and training. Employers who implement effective safety programs and have a days-away restricted transfer (DART) rate below the national average for their industry may be recognized by SCATS. Successful SHARP participants may receive up to a three-year deferral from OSHA’s general schedule inspections.
Businesses interested in SHARP can contact SCATS at 775-688-3730 (Reno) or 702-486-9140 (Las Vegas). For more information or to schedule free training courses, businesses can call 1-877-4SAFENV or visit 4safenv.state.nv.us.
