Nu-Calgon’s iWave-M Helps NH Medical Facility Breathe Easier

The iWave-M, a flexible ion-generating bar that can treat IAQ in nearly any HVAC application, is making the air cleaner and safer at a New Hampshire medical facility thanks to Paradigm Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning of Hooksett, NH.

Distributed by Nu-Calgon, the air purifier provides the highest level of ionization available in the market, producing 240 million ions/cc per foot of flexible ribbon. As the air flows past the iWave-M, it emits positive and negative ions, creating a plasma region that purifies the air, killing mold, bacteria, and viruses in the coil and living space. The ionization process also reduces allergens, smoke, and static electricity, and controls odors (cooking, pet, VOCs) and other particles in the air without creating ozone or any harmful byproducts.

“Because of the sensitive nature of patient health, this medical facility was a perfect application for the iWave-M,” said Paradigm’s Assistant Production Manager Rick Godfrey. “The job required us to replace two older Fujitsu ceiling cassettes and install four new wall mount heads. After educating the customer on the iWave’s ability to kill bacteria and viruses such as E.Coli, staph, MRSA and tuberculosis, it was an easy decision on their part to have us include the iWaves in the installation.”

The iWave-M is perfect for ductless HVAC systems – specifically mini-splits, commercial VRF coils, and PTAC systems – as well as residential and commercial duct systems, packaged systems, transport cooling coils and even ice machines.

Its revolutionary circuit bar with special integrated ion-generating needles fits HVAC cooling coils up to 36” wide and up to 1200 CFM. The bar is chemical-resistant and highly durable for long service life. It can be folded to length in the field to any size, and uses hook and loop fastener material for the flexible bar and power pack for easy installation. “Installation of the iWave-Ms literally took us about five minutes,” said Godfrey.

All four Fujitsu wall heads installed included iWave-Ms, Aspen condensate pumps and Fujitsu’s wired remote controls.

“Paired with the Fujitsu mini-splits, the iWave-Ms provided the customer with superior energy efficiency and cleaner, safer air,” said Godfrey. “In my book, that’s a win-win for any installation.”

The iWave-M and a full line of Fujitsu products are available from Air Purchases, Inc. The company maintains branches in Burlington, Brockton, Dedham and Hyannis, MA, and in Manchester, NH, where it is known as Engel HVAC Supply. For more information, call 781-273-2050.
